Bitvavo Gaming Week has just concluded, a week in which we listed only gaming-related assets. Listing these four new assets on our platform, provided us an opportunity to explore in this blog how gaming has evolved from the traditional Web2 to the innovative Web3.
From Web2 to Web3: The evolution of gaming
Web2 gaming refers to traditional online gaming experiences built on centralized platforms. In this model, game developers have total control over the digital worlds, and gamers don’t truly own their in-game assets.
Enter Web3 gaming, a new era of decentralized, blockchain-based gaming that promises to revolutionize the industry. Web3 gaming combines gaming with the unique features of blockchain technology, such as secure and transparent transactions, digital asset ownership, and decentralized governance.
Key differences between Web3 and Web2 gaming include:

Vulcan Forged (PYR): Vulcan Forged is a gaming and NFT platform on Ethereum and Polygon.
Alien Worlds (TLM): Alien Worlds is a simulated economy where players compete using NFTs.
Mines of Dalarnia (DAR): Mines of Dalarnia is a game where players can mine resources and battle for RUBY.
