Frequently Asked Questions

Bitvavo makes Shentu as easy as possible. Here are answers to common questions to help you make your first steps in the world of digital assets.

Shentu (CTK) is a platform focused on digital security. We live in an era where the significance of blockchain technology and decentralization is continually increasing. People need safety, transparency, and privacy. This makes securing digital assets and smart contracts more crucial than ever. Did you know that cybercriminals managed to steal over 1.7 billion dollars from crypto exchanges in 2023?

Blockchain security is crucial, which is what the Shentu (CTK) platform aims to provide. Blockchain is open and transparent, yet crypto projects can be vulnerable. Shentu Chain addresses this by creating a confidential and secure foundation. The platform decentralizes security and offers solutions that maintain the integrity of digital assets.

Shentu uses a Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DpoS) consensus mechanism and is built with the open-source toolkit (SDK) of Cosmos. This open-source toolkit enables building public Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchains. These, in turn, provide a secure foundation for decentralized applications (dApps).

Shentu (CTK) specifically targets teams that manage projects. Central to this is the monitoring and securing of blockchain projects. CertiK is the company behind this platform. It has developed a platform with various innovative tools, such as ShentuShield and a programming language called DeepSEA. The Shentu platform aims for a digital world where blockchains are safer and more reliable than ever.

Who founded Shentu?

Shentu (CTK) was developed by CertiK. The history of this company dates back to 2018 when two professors in Computer Science, Zhong Shao and Ronghui Gu, began leveraging their expertise to establish a new project focused on blockchain security. Together with a team of cybersecurity professionals and blockchain experts, the two men began. Their ambition ultimately led to CertiK, a company aiming to secure blockchain and smart contracts. To achieve this, CertiK launched a mainnet called CertiK Chain, which was later rebranded to Shentu Chain.

Shentu (CTK) focuses on the security of various blockchain applications. The goal is to enhance trust in the crypto ecosystem. The platform is multifunctional. Key applications include:

  • Support for blockchain interoperability: Shentu (CTK) is designed to promote interoperability between different blockchains. This ensures secure and smooth interactions and cross-chain transactions. Moreover, it creates more opportunities for seamless integration between blockchain platforms.
  • Smart contract security analysis: The Shentu ecosystem enables 24/7 on-chain security analysis of smart contracts. Continuous monitoring quickly identifies and resolves any vulnerabilities. This increases the confidence of software developers and users in this platform and blockchain in general.
  • Protection of Decentralized Finance (DeFi): Security Oracles are one of the pillars of the Shentu platform. They provide real-time security scores for smart contracts, allowing vulnerabilities to be detected before a transaction takes place. For crypto investors, this is an effective way to protect against unaudited smart contracts, which carry risks.
  • Asset protection: Users of this platform benefit from ShentuShield. This innovative tool makes it possible to protect digital assets from hackers or unforeseen events. In the past, funds have been lost due to cybercrime or other causes. ShentuShield aims to put an end to that.

One of the features of Shentu (CTK) is its strong focus on security. Shentu Chain offers a variety of security services that ensure blockchain projects and their smart contracts remain secure. The platform provides a solid foundation for developing blockchain infrastructures and decentralized applications (dApps). These four components form the pillars of the platform:

  • ShentuShield: Thanks to this advanced technology, it's possible to request reimbursements for lost funds. This offers extra protection and gives users peace of mind. The Shentu platform uses a governance system, which means users can, for instance, vote on claim requests.
  • Security Oracles: This system performs real-time security checks and protects on-chain transactions against attacks. Simultaneously, a decentralized network of operators ensures the optimal security of blockchain projects.
  • DeepSEA: This secure programming language works with the Shentu Virtual Machine (CVM), Ethereum WebAssembly, and Ant Financial’s AntChain. With these advanced tools, developers create reliable smart contracts.

Shentu Virtual Machine (CVM)

The Shentu Virtual Machine can be integrated with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). This enables users to verify the security of smart contracts and blockchains. For instance, a smart contract developer examines the security certifications of other smart contracts, then, based on this information, the developer may adjust the smart contract to ensure it performs better.

CTK is the official native token of the Shentu Chain blockchain technology. This token has three main applications. First, it is the method for paying crypto transaction fees. Additionally, it serves as a payment method for deploying smart contracts on the CertiK Chain. Furthermore, nodes stake CTK to secure and support the network. Finally, CTK holders have the opportunity to vote on blockchain improvements. They are also allowed to propose initiatives related to the ecosystem. In this way, they actively participate in the development of Shentu (CTK).

Staking is one of the options of Shentu Chain. It provides users with the chance to support the underlying blockchain. In return, they receive a reward in the form of CTK tokens. Participation in the staking process is possible by locking up CTK tokens for a specific period. This means that their crypto is non-withdrawable for example for three or six months. During this period, the CTK tokens cannot be traded or sold.

Validators play an essential role within the Shentu ecosystem. They verify transactions and create new blocks in the blockchain. Users who stake their CTK tokens effectively delegate them to a validator. In return, they receive a reward in the form of crypto. The exact amount depends on the number of tokens a user has staked. This reward encourages crypto investors to hold onto CTK for an extended period. This not only fosters greater loyalty but also stimulates the growth of the network.

Shentu (CTK) was founded in 2018 by Zhong Shao and Ronghui Gu. Despite price drops, the number of blockchain projects continued to rise. The demand for better security also increased. CertiK responded to this by launching Shentu (CTK). This platform is known for the following unique features:

  • Security is paramount: Shentu Chain has a strong emphasis on the security of blockchain projects and smart contracts.
  • It supports cross-chain: This platform is not only multifunctional but also cross-chain. This means that blockchains are interconnected, making asset transfers between different blockchains seamless.
  • It utilizes innovative security technologies: The platform incorporates several advanced security features, such as the DeepSEA security scanner, the Shentu Certified Virtual Machine (CVM), and decentralized oracles that perform real-time security checks.
  • It is highly scalable: Shentu's blockchain can process thousands of transactions per second. In the future, it could potentially handle millions, making it highly scalable for various applications, including dApp development.
  • The transaction fees are relatively low: Every crypto transaction requires a fee. The transaction costs on this platform are notably low compared to a well-known name like Ethereum (ETH).
