io.net is a decentralized network that provides computing power to companies and developers working with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The project combines blockchain technology, AI, and decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) to offer a scalable, accessible, and efficient solution for the growing shortage of GPU computing power.
The network aggregates underutilized GPUs and CPUs from data centers, crypto miners, and consumer hardware into a decentralized network. This enables efficient utilization and broad accessibility for both large and small businesses.
Since its launch in November 2023, io.net has amassed nearly 19,000 GPUs and more than 6,000 CPUs, ready for use. It collaborates with other decentralized networks like Render Network and Filecoin, to provide additional capacity. A key component of io.net is IO Cloud, a platform that allows users to manage GPU clusters without purchasing hardware or maintaining infrastructure. All transactions within the io.net ecosystem are processed in IO tokens behind the scenes, while users have the option to pay in USDC or other supported currencies. GPU and CPU providers receive their rewards in IO tokens. Additionally, token holders can stake their IO to earn extra rewards. These rewards are distributed over a period of 20 years, contributing to stable value creation.
The total maximum supply of the IO token is set at 800 million tokens, of which 500 million were issued during the Token Generation Event (TGE). The remaining 300 million tokens will be gradually released as rewards. Additionally, io.net implements a disinflationary model, where tokens are bought back and burned with revenue from network fees. This mechanism reduces the total supply and creates deflationary pressure, which is beneficial for the long-term value of the token.
